Special Transit's Paratransit Program

Service is door-through-door. Our courteous, experienced drivers will come to your door to escort you safely to the bus. Upon request, they will come inside to assist you out the door. When you arrive at your destination, the driver will again escort you to the door and all the way inside to your final destination to ensure your safety. The driver may pick up and drop off other passengers during your trip so you will get to know fellow passengers while you are riding.

Becoming a rider is simple. Just call our Scheduling Department at 303 447-9636. After providing some basic identifying information, you may request a ride. Tell the reservationist where you want to go, what time you want to arrive, and what time to you want to return. Once you have registered as a rider, you may also reserve your trips online at www.specialtransit.org.

Fares are $2.00 one-way within most communities; $1.25 one-way in rural communities; and $4.00 one-way between communities. Reduced-fare and no-fare options are available for individuals who are unable to pay the full fare.

On the day of your ride, please be ready 45 minutes in advance of your destination arrival time for within town trips. When you reserve your ride you will be given a 30 minute window for your pickup, such as between 9:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. for a 9:30 pick up time. On the return trip, you will be picked up within 15 minutes of your requested return time.

Service is available in Boulder, Longmont, Niwot, Louisville, Lafayette, Erie, Lyons, Nederland, Estes Park, Allenspark, Brighton and the Tri-Valley towns in rural Adams/Arapahoe counties. In larger communities, you can get a ride Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Days and times will vary in smaller communities. Limited weekend and evening service is available in Boulder and Longmont. In addition to traveling within communities, we also provide rides between communities certain days each week. The reservationist can tell you exact days and times of service.
