Benefits

Health & Dental
All Active full-time employees and active part-time employees who are normally scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week are eligible for benefits, including but not limited to vacation, sick time, holidays, and health/dental insurance.

The first of the month following 60 days of employment, eligible employees currently have the option to participate in group medical, dental, long term disability, and life insurance coverage programs, through Special Transit. Special Transit currently pays a portion of active employee’s medical insurance premiums. Dependents of eligible employees are also eligible for health and dental coverage at the employee’s expense.

Vacation/Holiday/Sick

Special Transit currently observes the following holidays. For eligible employees the following are paid days off:

. New Year's Day
. Memorial Day
. Independence Day
. Labor Day
. Thanksgiving Day
. Christmas Day
. Floating Holiday(s)

The number of vacation days that employees can earn each year is based on length of service. Although eligible employees begin accruing vacation when they begin employment with Special Transit, they have not earned vacation until they have been employed for 6 months.

Eligible employees currently accrue up to six days of sick leave per year based on the number of hours worked in a work week.

Additional Benefits

403(b) Thrift Plan:

Special Transit offers its employees a chance to save for retirement through a 403(b) Thrift Plan. Employees are eligible to contribute the first of the month following 60 days of employment. After one year of employment, Special Transit will match the employee’s contribution dollar for dollar up to 3% of the employee’s wages.

Employee Assistance Program:

Special Transit has available an Employee Assistance Program for its employees. The EAP provides assessment, referral and focused therapy for you and your household members. This benefit is provided at no cost to the employee. The EAP can be used for issues such as:

  • Abuse
  • Career issues
  • Child and elder care
  • Financial problems
  • Legal issues
  • Relationship issues

Miscellaneous Benefits:

The benefits listed below are available only to eligible employees:

Life Insurance Short and Long Term Disability coverage is provided, dependent coverage is available at the employees cost.

Membership to the Credit Union of Denver is offered to all employees.

Flexible Spending Account is offered to assist in dollar savings for dependent and medical expenses.

A membership in the Boulder Valley YMCA, Lafayette YMCA and Longmont YMCA is partially paid by Special Transit, family coverage is available.

A membership in the City of Boulder Parks & Recreation is partially paid by Special Transit, family coverage is available.

Bonuses for New Driver Referrals and Safety Incentives (Safety awards including Safety Bingo, Safe Drivers of the Month, Safe Driver of the year, Safety Spot awards, and Safety Bonuses).

A regional RTD bus pass.

Drivers receive paid training, and Commercial Driving License training is available to eligible drivers.

Tobacco Education and Cessation Program.

Extra Mile Awards.

Longevity Bonus.
